Folic acid is shown to benefit the arteries and cardiovascular system by preventing the build-up of the amino acid homocysteine. Folinic acid is already reduced and more rapidly converted into methylfolate (5-MTHF) so it is more active in the conversion of homocysteine to l-methionine.
